A broad lace parti
This braid is An open lace [21] with the addition of an extra twist along one side, which allows the braid to be opened like a book. The effect is a striped braid, with one color on the left and the other color on the right. Twisting both sides produces A round lace parti [22].
This braid is one of my favorites, and behaves best if gently pressed open with an iron.
Take seven departed loops, and place them on the following fingers:
Right hand: B C
Left hand: Two on A, two on B, one on C
Arrange the same color up on both hands.
Work with the right hand:
A takes through B C right, the front loop of B left unreversed.
B takes the front loop of A left unreversed.
A takes through the front loop of B right, the loop on C left unreversed.
Give the loop on A left a full 360° turn.
Lower the left loops.
Work with the left hand (in mirror image):
A takes through B C left, the front loop of B right unreversed.
B takes the front loop of A right unreversed.
A takes through the front loop of B left, the loop on C right unreversed.
(Do NOT turn the loop on A right.)
Lower the right loops.
Repeat from the beginning.
