A Cheueron brod of 16
A lace bend brod of 8 bowis [T24] is a one person version of this braid.
The direction that the loops are given the half-twist matters. It also determines which side of the braid faces upward during the braiding. The manuscripts are vague on this point, but it's clear that the twist was intentionally controlled.
For the sake of consistency, all my directions will form a braid with the more attractive side facing down.
Seat Your Fellow on Your right side.
Take sixteen loops in two colors, and place them on the following fingers:
Color 1: A B inner, and C D outer
Color 2: C D inner and A B outer
Work with the inner hands:
A takes through B C D inner, and D C B outer, the loop of A outer unreversed.
High the outer loops.
Move the loop from D inner onto D outer, unreversed.
Low the inner loops.
[Hook B in the back A loop and pull it over and around the front A loop and onto B - allowing the loop brought over from A to travel through A as previously instructed. This lowering method is explained in Tollemache's Lace Piole [T11].]
Twist all your loops, giving a 180° turn to each loop:
Outer hands - Twist the bottom of each loop upward.
Inner hands - Twist the top of each loop downward.
(Counter-clockwise for You, Clockwise for Your Fellow.)
Connect Your braid with Your Fellow's:
Exchange A loops on your inner hands:
Your Fellow's A loop passes through Your A loop unreversed.
[Use your other hand to make this work.]
Repeat from the beginning.

A Lace chevron broad.
Take sixteen bows, eight bows of one color, and eight of another color, and be four of one color set upon A B of thy right hand, and C D of thy left hand and four of another color, upon C D of thy right hand, and A B of thy left hand, and be the right hand of thy fellows accourding to thy left hand, and his left hand to thy right hand, and then shall you take both with A of your hands next through. [And there it ends with no further explanation.]
